In early August, the U.S. government announced that is is on track to welcome 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States by September 30. With the increase in arrivals, both of Syrian and other refugees from around the world, NSC staff will be working around the clock to welcome refugees at the airport, ensure they have appropriate medical care, assist with their legal needs, and enroll them in English classes to prepare them for their first jobs in the United States. We have been working tirelessly for months to resettle 364 refugees since October 1, including 116 Syrians, but we still have 27% of our refugee caseload for the year to welcome to Philadelphia by the end of September.
