Kyra Sjarif is an art therapist and counselor based in Philadelphia, specializing in PTSD, complex trauma, attachment wounding, anxiety, and working with children of immigrants and BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. Raised in Southeast Asia and the U.S., Kyra has always been fascinated by how our varied intersecting identities impact our psyche, sense of self, belonging, and connectedness to the world. As a psychotherapist of color, Kyra acknowledges the very real impact that our privileged and marginalized identities have on our lives and mental health.

In her second year of graduate school at Drexel University, Kyra served as an art therapy intern at NSC from 2016-2017, providing individual and group art therapy sessions for asylum-seeker, refugee, and asylee survivors of torture through the Philadelphia Partnership for Resilience (PPR). She also conducted therapeutic arts classes Burmese Karen and Chin refugee children through BuildaBridge International.

In addition to NSC, she works for a group practice in Philadelphia providing therapy for adults across the lifespan, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to treat trauma and PTSD. She speaks Indonesian and French.
