Kara Friesen

Associate Director of Health Services

Kara has worked with the INSPIRE program since February 2018, having previously worked with NSC’s employment team as a graduate intern. Interacting with NSC’s remarkable clients during her internship fostered Kara’s desire to work full-time with refugees.

Previously, Kara fulfilled a variety of communications, event planning, and administrative roles for nonprofit organizations, primarily in Springfield, Missouri. She also spent close to two years living in Bangkok, Thailand, where she taught conversational English classes in partnership with a local Thai church. The time in Thailand deepened Kara’s appreciation for working cross-culturally and for serving clients directly.

Kara obtained her MA in International Development from Eastern University and her BA in Advertising and Public Relations, with a concentration in Psychology, from Evangel University.
