Manager of Survivors of Torture Program
Brianna Andrews (she/her) is the Manager of the Survivors of Torture program at Nationalities Service Center, where she ensures the needs and voices of survivors are being met and heard. She is continuously seeking to raise awareness and build capacity by providing trainings to professionals across Pennsylvania, with a focus on trauma informed care to immigrant survivors. She oversees funding and reporting for the Survivors of Torture Program. Brianna manages the Survivor Services Intern Program, supervising staff and interns from a cultural humility perspective and trauma informed lens. She runs the program’s Advisory Council Group, creating space for clients to share feedback on their experiences with the program.
Brianna joined NSC, first in 2018 as an intern with the INSPIRE program (Innovative Support Program for Immigrant and Refugee Empowerment) and then became a staff member in 2019 as a case manager for the Survivors of Torture Program, providing intensive case management and emotional support.
Her passion for working with refugees and immigrants began when she did humanitarian aid work at a refugee camp in Lesvos, Greece, in 2016. She has volunteered as an ESL teacher’s assistant in Northeast Philadelphia, interned with a non-profit that focuses on empowering women and girls in urban communities, and interned with an organization working with the child welfare system in Philadelphia. She strongly believes in the importance of working alongside refugees and immigrants as well as advocating for their rights, ensuring that they feel welcomed.
Brianna is certified in trauma informed care and holds a Master of Social Work from Widener University and an LSW.
