Welcoming NSC's newest Board member!
NSC has a remarkable Board of Trustees and we are thrilled to welcome its newest member, Emma Restrepo, an independent journalist.
Emma has a long relationship with NSC. As she recalled recently,
On January 19, 2010, Judge Honeyman accepted my case. When it was his turn, the prosecutor said he had 'no questions.' I, between my nerves and my poor English, did not understand what was happening.
My lawyer from NSC said, 'congratulations.' I understood that since then, every time I walked the asphalt of the streets of Philadelphia, that asphalt is also mine.
I will never forget that my lawyer, young and adored in the corridor, confessed that 'this is my first case, but I didn't want to tell you.' I said, 'what?'We laughed.
On a very similar date, you are giving me this news.
It is an indescribable feeling. It's perhaps the same feeling as when I walked up to the witness stand and said to Judge Honeyman, 'thank you' when I reached out and squeezed his hand.
Welcome to NSC's Board of Trustees, Emma! Read more about the three individuals who joined the Board in early 2023.
