Deporting Asian refugees, activists say, is anti-Asian violence – and removals are up

The US is deporting a vast number of Asian immigrants, particularly Southeast Asians, many based on old criminal convictions. Anti-Asian violence comes in many forms, one being government policies that deport individuals who have lived in the US for decades to nations their families fled. One of our clients is in that position, facing deportation for crimes committed long ago. "You commit an offense when you’re a dumb teenager,” his lawyer Lilah Thompson of NSC told the Inquirer, “and the penalty is it separates you from your whole family for the rest of your life?"
