Therapists Standing With Immigrants: Free Virtual Training
With the increase in anti-immigrant rhetoric and threats to service access, our work has never been more important. Our clients have experienced extreme trauma which is compounded by the current state of immigration policies. This can leave helping professionals like us feeling hopeless and helpless. As mental health professionals, however, we do have agency. Please join NSC’s network of Trusted Referral Partners.
Training:
NSC will provide a 4-hour virtual training that will prepare mental health professionals on how to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive services. Presenters include mental health providers, social workers, and professional interpreters who have years of experience working with immigrants and refugees.
Topics include:
- Immigration status and how it determines access to mental health services
- Barriers to service for refugees and immigrants
- Cultural responsiveness working with refugees and immigrants
- Use of professional Interpretation
- Awareness of Western bias
- Creative interventions working with refugees and immigrants
