Maggie Kopel joined NSC in September of 2019 as a Penn Law Postgraduate Fellow, funded by the Langer, Grogan & Diver Fellowship in Social Justice. Through her Fellowship, she is representing clients in immigration detention in Pennsylvania. Along with representing clients, her work focuses on setting up structures to one day provide universal representation to detained clients in immigration proceedings, the vast majority of whom currently do not have access to counsel.
Maggie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2019. At Penn, she was a student in the Transnational Legal Clinic and the Interdisciplinary Child Advocacy Clinic. She interned with HIAS and with Colorado Legal Services, and was a leader of the Penn Law Immigrant Rights Project.
