Originally from Afghanistan, Nik moved to the US in 2000 and joined NSC in 2021. His goal is to empower refugee communities to reach their best potential and help those struggling to integrate successfully with their daily challenges as new Americans.  Nik has extensive experience working with diverse communities, refugees, and IDPs. He is experienced in humanitarian aid, emergency management, relief support, and research around refugee and migrant communities’ issues and programs in the US, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. He holds certificates in Emergency Capacity Building, Management, Interpretation/translation, trauma, and medical interpretation.  In 1994, Nik established a nonprofit organization, Central Afghanistan Welfare Committee, in Afghanistan and is still active, providing humanitarian aid for people in the most remote and isolated geographical area of Afghanistan.  In his free time, Nik’s hobbies include long walks, gardening, and landscaping.
