The Philadelphia Regional Refugee Providers’ Collaborative (PRRPC), a coalition of refugee serving agencies, will join the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and countless global cities and organizations in observance of World Refugee Day 2017. Now entering its 16th year, the international event is designed to raise awareness of the global refugee crisis, while honoring the strength, courage, and resilience of the growing number of people forced to flee their homes each year.
A reception will take place from 12 – 1 p.m.in the Conversation Hall of City Hall to kick-off activities. Afterward, Philadelphia Regional Refugee Providers’ Collaborative member agencies and Mayor Jim Kenney will hold a press briefing from 1 – 3 p.m. This year’s theme is “Standing with Refugees” and will feature remarks by Mayor Kenney, innovative new partnerships featuring the creators of the Needs List, the Inkind Baking Project, and Weblinc, a film featuring refugees resettled in Philadelphia, the newly formed Refugee soccer team that will be competing in the Mayor’s Unity Cup, and refugee service providers.
